LEESBURG, GA (WALB) -

One southwest Georgia church is putting one foot forward in an effort to help those in need.

First Baptist Church of Leesburg joined forces this Christmas with a non-profit organization called Soles for Souls.

They held a special Children's Celebration Choir concert in honor of the campaign.

The church asked it's members to bring in gently-used or new shoes to donate to people in over 120 countries world-wide.

"These shoes will go to people who have no shoes so it will be received so well, it will be such a joy, and I wish I could be there to see them when they get them, that would be a wonderful thing," says Pastor Bobby Harrell, First Baptist Church of Leesburg.

Since 2005, Soles for Souls has given away more than 16-million pairs of new or gently-worn shoes.
