ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Thousands of hungry people have food thanks to a South Georgia church.

8,000 pounds of food filled the First Apostolic Church on Lumpkin Street for their annual food drive.

Dozens of people lined up outside the church Saturday morning to get bread, vegetables, and fruit.

The church gave each family a full box of free food.

Non-profit groups and churches all over the state have donated food and money to make this giveaway possible.

"We are just trying to be a part of the community, trying to do things on a local level that will affect all of Georgia, or as much of Georgia as we can " Betty Jackson, Pastor.

This is the 15th year the First Apostolic Church has done this food giveaway.
