FITZGERALD, GA (WALB) -
A tragedy Thursday night at a South Georgia Christmas parade, a horse was killed and its rider injured in Fitzgerald when they were struck by a van.
Ironically this happened on the same stretch of road where a woman was struck and killed by a car Wednesday night.
Officials say before the start of Fitzgerald's Christmas parade some horses that were to ride in the event were let out on North Merrimac Road.
We're told a van hit the horse - throwing the driver off. He broke his arm but the horse later died. No word on if charges will be filed.
Last night 51-year-old Katrina Green was hit by an SUV and killed on Merrimac. Troopers say she was wearing dark clothing and the dark road and the driver didn't see her.
