ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
You know the Georgia State Patrol for protecting the traveling public from speeders and for investigating accidents on the roadways, but this holiday season they're showing a softer side.
Once again G-S-P is teaming up with the Marine Corps Reserve to collect donations for Toys For Tots.
You can help by donating an unwrapped toy at any Toys For Tots box around the area, but you can also bring monetary donations to any Georgia State Patrol Post in the state. Troopers say that collecting the donations is designed to show the public that they're part of the community too.
"We help our community by doing this charitable organization with the Marine Corps. We let people know that we're out here they know us, they actually call us by first name," said Georgia State Patrol Trooper David Greene.
Trooper Greene says that the partnership between the G-S-P and the Marine Corps Reserve is a long standing one and that the two work very well together. You can make donations at the Posts during business hours up until December 13th.
