MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) -

A man charged in a Moultrie robbery turned homicide will spend the rest of his life in prison.

Wednesday a Colquitt County jury found Phirronious Edwards guilty of murder.

Prosecutors say he shot Billy Hewitt Junior during a robbery at his 9th Avenue home in October 2011. Hewitt ran to a neighbor's home but later died from his wound.

Co-defendant Michael Russell testified against Edwards. He had already pleaded guilty to armed robbery charges and will be sentenced at a later date.

A judge sentenced Edwards to life plus 5 years.
