ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Hundreds of non-profit organizations in Georgia are asking residents across the state to join together and participate in a day of giving. Thursday will be the first ever Georgia Gives Day.

It's a 24 hour virtual event that raises money and awareness for different groups.  Several non-profits in the Albany region are participating, including Easter Seals, which has chosen to give the money they raise to Meagan's House.

"We just hope everybody will get out tomorrow, let's really show them how generous the state of Georgia is and give!  You don't have to give to Easter Seals; there are plenty of opportunities to give," said Beth English, Easter Seals Executive Director.

Georgia has already collected close to $400,000. Those interested in donating don't have to wait until Thursday to give.
