THOMAS COUNTY, GA (WALB) -
A south Georgia high school student will represent her peers in Atlanta serving on Superintendent John Barge's Student Advisory Council.
Thomas County Central's Bobbi Owens was one of just 50 students from across the state to be named to the Council.
These student members will meet twice over the next year to discuss how state policies are having an impact in the classroom.
"Students see things that teachers don't see, as well as teachers see things that students don't see and when you're the one that is actually involved in the curriculum than I think it's important to get their input on how they feel it's working for them," said Owens.
"We're very pleased here at Thomas County to have Bobbi on the advisory committee. This is our second representative in a row to be selected to the Council. We're very proud of her accomplishments and the accomplishments of our past representatives," said Honors Director Dr. James Rehberg.
More than 750 students from 121 districts applied to be a member of the Council.
