ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Dozens of women in Southwest Georgia came together to network and inspire each other to succeed.

Wednesday, Darton State College's Continuing Education department hosted a professional women's forum.

Dr. Melinda Greenfield, a board certified dermatologist spoke to the group about her success.

Organizers say these unique, semi-annual events are a way to recognize the contributions women provide for our economy.

"It's just a great opportunity to focus on women. In the economy and looking at different businesses there are a lot of events that go on and unfortunately we don't find a lot that are just focused on women's success. So we just see this as a great opportunity and niche that we can give back," said Michael White, Director of Continuing Education.

Vendors from businesses in South Georgia also set up at the event to show off what they're doing in the area.
