ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
Thousands of veterans came to the Albany Civic Center today to have questions about their benefits answered, in what the state called their one stop "supermarket of veteran's benefits."
Outside the Civic Center and around the sidewalk veterans and their family members came to meet with people from more than 35 government agencies and get information on their eligibility for benefits.
The veterans say they liked being able to talk to the folks in charge face to face and get their questions explained.
"Yes, sir, it's hard to figure out what you need to do. Get that information and get the medical services, especially here in Albany, Georgia," said Renee Williams, U.S.M.C Veteran.
"This was very good. Because I learned especially about Champ Insurance that I didn't know that my wife could be eligible for," said Edward Miller, Jr., Vietnam Veteran.
The Georgia Department of Veterans Service said that 4, 450 people attended Wednesday's benefits supermarket, the second largest event they have held since 2008.
And 3,100 claims and transactions were filed for the vets.
