ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Phoebe Foundation got a special donation from the Turner Job Corps Center Tuesday afternoon.

The Endowment Female Professional Development Program raised just under $500 and presented the check to the Carleton Breast Cancer Center at their annual Christmas Luncheon.

Young ladies from the program say they raised the money in honor of Tina Phipps, a long time mentor and survivor of breast cancer.

"They are so very excited to have so much support and be able to give back to a community that supports them," said Calandra Jefferson of Tuner Job Corps Center.

"If a lady is going through breast cancer and she can do it, I can do it. It just made me think I can just keep pushing and pushing forward," said Endowment Program Representative Meloni Barringer.

The ladies raised the money during a breast cancer awareness walk back in October.
