A jury has found Sumter County Commissioner Al Hurley, 54, guilty on all but one charge in his federal bribing and extortion trial.
The jury debated for about an hour Monday night before returning the verdict Tuesday.
Prosecutors say Hurley tried to extort $15,000 from Michigan contractor Terrance Parker one year ago in exchange for Sumter County work contracts.
Hurley was found guilty of one count attempted extortion and one count federal program bribery.
He will remain free on bond until his sentencing in February.
