ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
One lucky man in Baconton, no longer has to depend on others for a ride thanks to his ministry.
St. James Baptist Church surprised Joe Cuff with a 2001 Nissan Altima after he encountered financial problems earlier this year and lost his job and car.
Joe Cuff was shocked when his pastor handed him the keys to a Nissan Altima Sunday afternoon.
Pastor Lawrence Knighton felt there was no one more deserving than Cuff.
"To see the look on his face, to see a car that is paid for, that he just has to go and get a tag, he has the title in his hand, it is a major blessing, especially during this time of year, people are struggling, the economy is bad," said Lawrence Knighton, Pastor.
After hitting hard times Cuff lost his job, and with it his vehicle.
"I had lost my job about 3 or 4 months ago, and I didn't have any income coming in, and the car that I did have, it stayed broke down, so I was out of a car," said Joe Cuff, Car Giveaway Recipient.
"He lost his vehicle, lost his job, and he has been very committed to the ministry, and instead of him catching a ride to work, we wanted to bless him to be able to have his own transportation," said Knighton.
And the car is worth much more than just its value. For Cuff, it means freedom.
"Basically be on my own, and be able to come to bible study, be able to go to work without somebody having to take me, without somebody having to pick me up," said Cuff.
"It is a great feeling to know that you are making a difference in someone's life, that is what my whole thought process is, we are blessed to be a blessing," said Knighton.
And for Cuff, it is a blessing to have his hard times behind him.
This is the third car this year the ministry has given to a deserving member.
