ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
Hundreds of people gathered to watch the 22nd annual Celebration of Lights parade in Downtown Albany. This year's theme was "an Old Fashioned Christmas."
All eyes were on the Christmas tree as it lit up, kicking off the festivities. Then one by one groups made their way down Pine Avenue.
And participants say this event is more than just celebrating Christmas, it's a time to give back.
"Because it's giving more back to the community. And when kids see it they want to help or do something because they feel that they can be a part of it," said Latravious Aikens, who participated in the festivities.
Dozens of organizations showed off their floats and hundreds lined the streets, excited for different things.
But it was clear many were there for the arrival of a very important person- Santa!
