Over 1,300 register for Phoebe's Jingle Jog

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Hundreds of people got up early Saturday morning for a holiday tradition.

To promote healthy individuals, Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital's HealthWorks kicked off the 2012 Jingle Bell Jog.  Participants chose either a 10K or 5K run or a one mile fun walk.

Over 1, 300 runners registered for the jingle bell jog.

Runners started from 3rd Avenue through the Phoebe campus to 2nd Avenue where they turned right and continue west around the Rawson Circle Subdivision and back to the starting point on 3rd Avenue.

"I wanted to come and run again, there is a lot of people, it is a great social event," says Wright Calhoun 1st overall winner.

"I think it is pretty cool, it is real fun to see everybody and meet new people, like I met this guy "Samuel Cornwell, 3rd overall winner.

The annual event promotes personal health and benefits Children's Miracle Network.

Organizers say all of the money raised stays here in the community to help children's services at Phoebe.
