ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

More than 70 students from around South Georgia got a chance to fine tune their horticulture skills in Albany.

Albany Technical College held its Fifth Annual Future Farmers of America Floriculture Competition.

High School juniors and seniors competed in plant identification, problem solving, general knowledge and plant disorders.

It prepares them for area and state level floriculture competitions.

"It helps them out. It helps them out for their knowledge and benefit for their contest in their area next week, so a partnership is a very important thing and we try to do as much as we can with the technical schools in our area," said Yvette Crick, Dept. of Education South Regional Horticultural Specialist.

Trophies were awarded to teams placing first, second, and third in the Junior and Senior Divisions.
