Broad Bridge demolition still in progress

Demolition on Albany's Broad Avenue Bridge continues to move along.

Thursday, we saw crews carefully moving boulders and rocks around the base of the bridge.

They were also welding storm drainage pipes to make sure no debris ends up in the river.

One onlooker told us it breaks her heart to see the bridge coming down. But she's optimistic about the future with a new bridge.

"Well I'm happy they're going to have a new bridge, but I'll still be sad for the old one to be gone, but you have to do what you have to do sometimes," said Lousie Hunter, Onlooker.

City officials say the bridge should be completely demolished by late December or early into the new year.

It will likely be early 2015 before the new bridge opens.
