ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
Good news for South Georgians who got a flu vaccination. Health Department officials say this season's flu vaccine is a good match to influenza strains currently circulating.
Still, cases in Georgia are increasing. The CDC lists Georgia as having "local" flu activity.
That's worse than every neighboring state except Alabama which as "regional" activity.
Health officials say children and young adults seem to be hardest hit by influenza this season, but they recommend everyone get vaccinated and say this year's vaccine is offering good protection.
So far, this year there have been no flu deaths reported in Georgia.
It's not too late to get a flu shot. They're available at your county health department and many pharmacies for about $25.
