VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -
Valdosta State University is installing more cameras in residence halls after the possible murder of a student.
The cameras were set to be installed in all elevators before freshman Jasmine Benjamin's body was found November 18th, but the cameras were on back order.
Now workers are completing the job, and the cameras should be running by tomorrow.
"Our police use the cameras quite often, well not quite often but the police use the cameras for various things, it's just another safety precaution," said Thressea Boyd, VSU Communications.
Investigators are treating Benjamin's death as a homicide, but they're waiting for autopsy results to explain how she died.
VSU students have organized a candlelight vigil to be held at Georgia Hall this Saturday at 6 p.m. The day Benjamin would have turned 18.
