After more than 17-years of service, Valdosta Police Chief Frank Simmons is retiring.
Under his leadership, the Valdosta and Lowndes County Crime Lab was created. The department also earned national accreditation for the first time in 1999.
Simmons will retire after 41-years in public safety and looks forward to spending more time with his wife.
"She has been fantastic in her role as a wife, supporting me in this job all these years, I told some friends this morning, it's Frank and Kathy time," said Chief Simmons.
