ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Jingle Bell Jog and the Celebration of Lights Christmas Parade will cause Albany traffic changes on Saturday, December 1, 2012.

 From 7:00 A.M. to 11:30 A.M., Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital will hold their annual Jingle Bell Jog Event.  The event will consist of a 5k and 10k run and a 1 mile walk. 

 Assembly will take place in front of the Phoebe Health Works building located at 311 3rd Avenue.  Runners will proceed west on 3rd Avenue through Phoebe campus to 2nd Avenue where they will turn right and continue west meandering through and around the Rawson Circle Subdivision and back to the starting point on 3rd Avenue. 

 Jefferson Street (SR 91) will be crossed at 3rd Avenue and again at 5th Avenue on the return route. 

 A City of Albany police officer and patrol car will be stationed at both crossings to temporarily stop and hold traffic while runners cross the State Route.

 The from 6:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M., the City of Albany will hold its annual Celebration of Lights Christmas Parade. 

 The event will assemble on Pine Avenue between Monroe Street and Harding Street and will proceed east to Washington Street where it will make a right turn and proceed south one block and make another turn onto Broad Avenue.

  It will then continue west on Broad Avenue to its termination point at Madison Street.  Through traffic on north and south Jefferson Street (SR 91) will be temporally detoured at Flint Avenue and Oglethorpe Boulevard. 

 In addition, Davis Street, Madison Street, Monroe Street, Jackson Street and Washington Street will be blocked to through traffic during the event.

 Police officers and patrol cars may be stationed in designated areas to assist in traffic control.  Delays are to be expected in the area during the specified time period.

 Motorists are advised to expect delays in this area so please use alternate route where possible.
