TIFTON, GA (WALB) -
A gunman is on the loose in Tifton. We first broke this story in a breaking news email alert.
A Tifton man was shot and taken to two hospitals for treatment. The shooter is still on the loose. Police arrived at South Central Trailer Park just before 11pm because of a shooting.
A 20-year-old man was found sitting in a chair outside of Lot 12 with a gunshot wound. Police say the man was shot in the lower abdomen and upper thigh.
He was transported by EMS to Tift Regional Hospital and later had to be transported to a Macon hospital.
Police need your help finding the shooter, because the victim was not able to talk much.
"The victim was able to tell a whole lot. We talked to the neighbors and they heard shots. Nobody saw a car leaving the area. Right now, we don't have a whole lot to go on," said Tifton Police Officer Lt. Lee Dunston.
The GBI Crime Scene was also called in to help investigate. Agents were on the scene collecting evidence.
Tifton Police need your help. If you heard or saw anything, call Tifton Investigations Unit at (229) 382-3132.
