Second Harvest Food Bank leaders are pleading for south Georgians to give generously or else they may not be able to feed many families who need help for Christmas.
The need is up, but donations in our area are down 20 percent this year.
Shelves at the food bank were depleted by Thanksgiving food giveaways and they need to be restocked in a hurry.
"Demand is so high that everything we're getting in daily from our cooperate partners is being put into boxes and being taken right back out. Everything from meat to produce to bread to canned goods," said Jim Case, Second Harvest Albany Branch Director.
Jim Case says the Stamp Out Hunger food drive organized by letter carriers back in the Spring was the most successful collection project of the year.
Without it, they wouldn't have been able to feed all the families in need for Thanksgiving.
