ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Technical colleges supply a lot of workers to keep South Georgia's economy churning.

Wednesday, a company with a plant in Cuthbert gave something back to one of those colleges.

American Proteins gave Albany Technical College $6500 for its general scholarship fund.

The company makes pet and livestock food at several Georgia plants.

Company officials say the donation is just part of their commitment to rural communities.

"Some of our maintenance people that are employed for example in the welding areas did attend Albany Tech," said Norman Barber, the Human Resources Manager for the Cuthbert plant.

Barber says American Proteins has a long-term relationship with Albany Tech and also recently gave to Okefenokee Tech in Waycross.
