Powerball jackpot increases to $550M

It's now up to $550,000,000 million and many of you stopped by your favorite convenience store Wednesday to pick up a few tickets.

While the chances of winning are very slim, some say all the excitement and the slight possibility of winning are worth buying a two dollar ticket.

Is that the winning ticket? That's the question every millionaire hopeful is asking Wednesday.

"We have heard that all day.  Everybody thinks that the machine is spitting out their winning numbers.  So, everybody who comes in here thinks that they have the winning ticket," said Crystal Smith, Woodalls Employee.

In a matter of 24 hours the Powerball jackpot grew from $500,000,000 to $550,000,000.

This Woodall's station on Slappey has seen such an influx of customers, folks were only able to purchase quick picks.

"We also sold out of place slips.  We had to get place slips from the other stores.  We have been extremely busy, all day," said Smith.

The Powerball jackpot is the largest in the game's history. It has grown since October sixth and has rolled 15 times.  The thought of becoming a multi-millionaire overnight has led to the popular question of what would you do with all that dough?

"Probably take a vacation and a couple other things," said Jerry Baker, Lottery Player.

"I don't know what I would do, have a heart attack," said Baker.

But winning that much money means something more serious for Patty Willis, who recently battled endometrial cancer with no health insurance.

"I had extreme financial difficulties because of not having any insurance.  I was forced into personal bankruptcy.  I would go back and pay all of these wonderful doctors and hospitals that treated me without insurance. I'd go back and pay all of them," said Baker.

While the odds of winning the jackpot are one in 175,000,000 just of chance of making history has folks all over buzzing with hope.

"It's just, you never know, the excitement of it," said Willis.

Experts say there's a good chance there will be multiple winners Wednesday, but with a jackpot that big there is plenty of money to go around.
