Jurors listened to several FBI taped phone calls between Sumter County Commissioner Al Hurley and a Michigan contractor during the first day of Hurley's bribery and extortion trial.
The first witness called by federal prosecutors was FBI Special Agent Cynthia Allard.
She played several phone conversations from last November between Hurley and Terrance Parker, taped without Hurley's knowledge.
Prosecutors say he asked Parker for $15,000 in exchange for county work contracts.
Prosecutors also showed several text messages Hurley sent Parker.
The trial is expected to continue at least two more days.
