Drug agents are advised by the state to wear HAZMAT suits even on marijuana raids as a precaution against the fumes emitted by marijuana.
When ADDU agents raided a Lucille Street home this morning they arrested 29-year-old Rodricius Montrel James, and took his eight month old son from the home.
The child was resting near a pound and a quarter stash of marijuana. The child was breathing the air without protection.
The baby was immediately taken and placed in the care of his grandmother. Another 7-year-old child who lives there was at school when officers raided the house.
"He was actually dealing out of that room where when we raided it with the baby and the drugs were being stored," said ADDU Cmdr. Bill Berry.
Officers say that they also got a stash of Ecstasy and other drugs, along with the pot, and $2,180 in cash and two pistols. The pot was valued at $5,000.00.
James had been previously arrested in Randolph County on similar charges. He now faces numerous charges in Albany, including intent to sell marijuana, ecstasy, and other narcotics, and weapons charges.
