ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
A jury is ready to hear testimony in the federal trial of a Sumter County Commissioner charged with bribery and extortion.
Late Tuesday afternoon a jury was selected for the trial of Al Hurley.
He's served on the Sumter County commission for 12 years.
Prosecutors say Hurley solicited payments totaling $20,000 from a contractor in Michigan to help him get asbestos abatement work with Sumter County.
Opening statements in the trial will start Wednesday morning.
