ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
If you're looking for a way to give back this Christmas, how about making sure kids spending their holiday in a shelter get their wishes fulfilled?
Make a child's wish come true you can do that by participating in the "Make a Wish come True with a letter to Santa" program.
For the ninth year, the Albany Recreation and Parks Department has partnered with the Liberty House and The Bridge in to brighten the holidays for kids in those shelters.
Nearly 40 kids from the agencies submitted their wish lists. You can stop by the Recreation office at Tift Park, pick up a letter, and return it by December 14th with a gift.
"A lot of these letters say I just want to go back to may family," said Kristin Caso, of Albany Parks and Recreation. "Or I just want parents for Christmas. Those are things we can't fulfill but if we can their Christmas a little bit better by letting them know somebody cares about them. I think that is all that really matters."
There's also a drop box at the Recreation and Parks office where you can leave bedding, towels, clothing, and other items needed at these shelters.
