ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
Lottery machines are whirring again after a problem with the Georgia Lottery computer network kept some players from buying tickets for a record jackpot.
Wednesday's Powerball jackpot will be at least $500 million.
Several lottery retailers in Albany told us their machines are back up to speed now.
After a weekend software upgrade, many retailers complained that their terminals didn't work or were slow running.
"I have four terminals and all four terminals were down on Sunday. We can't even cash tickets, we don't even play nothing. Monday, I think it came back in the morning, but we had a hard time. In five minutes, one ticket would print out. All day we have a lot of problems. But now it's better," said Nainesh Patel, who works at the BP Gas Station on Slappey.
Georgia Lottery officials say they don't know how many of its 8,300 retailers were affected by slowdowns.
They received about 600 calls about terminal communication problems Monday. By midday Tuesday, there had been 21 calls.
