Black Friday shooting suspects nabbed after chase

CAIRO, GA (WALB) -

Police say an argument over a parking spot triggered that double shooting at a Tallahassee Walmart.

A Georgia couple is charged in that Black Friday shooting after they were caught in Grady County after leading officers on a high speed chase.

"They issued a BOLO for them and out of Tallahassee that the car had a Georgia tag. My deputies and I went riding around looking for it in case it did come over the Georgia line," said Grady County Sheriff Harry Young.

One day later, it did.

A Gadsden County, Florida deputy chased the Toyota Camry, the same car driven by the suspects in the shooting, across state lines on Highway 111 where Grady County deputies were waiting.

"One of my deputies had spike strips and we got them out just below the bridge," said Young.

He says the driver tried to avoid the stop sticks and struck a guard rail.

Earl White III and Tiffany Yancey were not seriously hurt in the crash and deputies took them into custody.

The couple is facing attempted murder and armed robbery charges in Leon County, Florida.

The victims, Vshernay Barron and Terrance Washington told police they honked their horn at the couple whose car was blocking the roadway when Yancey got of her car with a gun and began beating Barron and demanding money from her purse.

After a struggle, Yancey and White drove off but Washington pushed a cart into the Camry, That's when he says White opened fire striking him three times. Barron was hit once in the thigh.

The victims were taken to a Tallahassee Hospital and are in fair condition.

White is also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He had just gotten out of a Georgia prison in July where he served time on a burglary conviction.
