CORDELE, GA (WALB) -

Three teenagers are in custody tonight charged with murdering a Cordele woman. 39-Year old Cynthia Curtis was shot in her West 23rd Street apartment November 12th.

Surveillance video from outside her apartment led to the arrests. Cynthia Curtis was well known in Sunset Homes complex for selling snacks out of her apartment.

Police say three teens tried to rob her, which led to her death. This surveillance video led to the arrests of three suspected killers.

19 year old Vascorey Yowe, 18 year old Jacorey Jackson, and a 15 year old were arrested last night for the murder of 39 year old Cynthia Curtis.

The day before Thanksgiving, Cordele Police got an anonymous tip about one of the men in this video.

"We got a tip on who one the persons of interest possibly was in the video, that person was interviewed later we were able to get some information on the suspects that were involved," says Detective Ketorie Sales, Cordele Police Dept.

Police say Curtis was well known in the community. and the suspects had been to her apartment before.

"She sells snacks to a lot of the kids in the area," says Sales.

Police say they were trying to rob Curtis since they knew she had money in her apartment.

"We believe when the suspects got into the residence, they realized that the victim may be armed, and that is when they retaliated with shooting her," says Sales.

They got away with an undisclosed amount of money, but investigators say they're now being brought to justice.

Vascorey and the juvenile have both been in trouble with the law before.

All three suspects are charged with murder, armed robbery, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
