As families gather for the traditional turkey dinner, they can also learn more about their family health.
Thursday is the nation's 9th annual Family Health History Day and as you catch up with relatives you can learn more about their health, which could be telling about yours.
Tracking illnesses from one generation to the next can help health care providers predict illnesses for which you may be at risk.
"Especially if someone has already passed from a certain disease, or if there is something in the family that is hereditary, then they should discuss that, especially for the children and the generation that is coming," said Marilynn Hicks, Volunteer.
An Internet-based tool, My Family Health Portrait, let's anyone create a portrait of their family's health history.
