Former ASU student Mariah Myers died from injuries sustained in a head-on collision Tuesday night in rural McIntosh County.

Myers, a 2011 graduate of Albany State, died on the scene, and her mother is in the hospital. Two men in the car that struck Myers' were airlifted to a hospital in Savannah.

The SCRT unit of the Georgia State Patrol is being brought in today.  The women were headed west Highway 99, the other car was heading east.

Sheriff Steve Jessup confirmed that the driver of the other car in the McIntosh wreck, Timothy Scott, was convicted of voluntary manslaughter in 1996 for stabbing a man at the Ponderosa Club in McIntosh. Corrections records say he was released in June, 2011.

As of 1:30PM Friday, Tim Scott and Andre Jackson were in critical condition, and there was no condition report on Claudia Myers.

The Darien News reports: According to the McIntosh County Sheriff and the Georgia State Patrol,  Mariah, of Crescent, were driving west on Hwy. 99, with her mother, Claudia Myers, and was hit by a Crown Victoria headed east driven by Tim Scott of Crescent, with his passenger, Andre Jackson, of Meridian.

According to witness reports, Scott was passing vehicles at a high rate of speed when the impact occurred.
