It's back to the drawing board for Albany City Commissioners after they could not decide what to do with $200,000 that will be generated from the Hotel-Motel tax increase.
We first told you about this one percent tax increase two weeks ago. A new state law gives cities the power to raise that amount from seven percent to eight.
Tuesday morning, commissioners debated where the money is needed. A portion of the board thought the money should be used to offset costs at the Civic Center.
Other commissioners wanted to divide the money between the Civic Center, The Civil Rights Institute, RiverQuarium, and Thronateeska.
"We all are in favor of the basics but, it was the ground level they are discussing," said Albany City Commissioner Tommie Postell. "If it goes to all those different branches then it will create a problem, if we try to give something too somebody else. Because it will be locked in."
City Commissioners will re-vote on this issue on November 27th at 6:30pm.
