ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

As you prepare to hit the road for Thanksgiving, the news at the gas pump isn't great.

After more than two months on a downward trend, prices in Georgia are going back up and experts think that may continue through the end of the year.

The average price for regular unleaded in Georgia is up 2.1 cents from last week to $3.24.

The national average could come to breaking a Thanksgiving record, but that's not slowing down one driver we talked to on Monday.

"I'm going to go see my grandmother and hey she's important to me, so whatever the gas prices are, I'll take that in stride and move forward," said commuter Darryl West.

The Georgia average is 2.4 cents cheaper than a year ago and nearly 31 cents lower than a month ago.

The national average right now is $3.43.
