Recently, Albany downtown business owners, governmental entities, and citizens, who utilize the downtown post office facility, rallied and were able keep the postal facility open for six additional months.
It was slated to close December 2, 2012, without much advance notice for those who frequent the facility.
Now, the United States Postal Service will host a public meeting November 20, 3pm, in Albany Technical College's Kirkland Conference Center. Officials will outline plans and possibilities for the facility.
As before, we encourage citizens to attend this meeting to hear from U.S. Postal Service officials and to let them hear from you!
We acknowledge that something has to be done to help alleviate the financial crisis facing our Postal Service.
And, privatization may be the answer for more and more facilities across the nation, including ours.
Again, it's important that you are heard. Make plans to attend the public meeting.
