Former Miss America Neva Jane Langley Fickling has died.
Neva Fickling was crowned Miss America in 1953 and was the only Miss Georgia to advance and win the Miss America title.
Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones confirmed Fickling, a Macon resident, died early Sunday morning.
Edward Eikner a piano instructor and professor at Wesleyan College, was close to Fickling and says she was diagnosed with stage four cancer a year and a half ago.
He says she had been battling the disease ever since.
