ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Hundreds of people got down and dirty at the Marine Base, all in the name of fun.

Marine Corps Logistics Base held their first "Dirty Devil Dog Mud Run," at Boyett Park on the base.

It's a 5K complete with obstacles, challenges and plenty of mud.

The purpose is to provide a fun, healthy and wholesome athletic event for military personnel, family members and civilians of the base and local community.

"Folks like a challenge and it is team building there is families out here, my entire family is out here, my wife and four kids, we are going to run this together, we will help each other through the obstacles, and that is all it is about, reaching out to the community, running, completing a challenge together "Don Davis, Colonel.

About 500 people trekked through the mud.
