STEWART COUNTY, GA -

An 18-year-old man was headed to Albany around 3 p.m. Thursday, November 15 with 3 pounds of high grade marijuana when a Richland Police officer carried out traffic stop.

Khalieb Abdul Peterson of Atlanta was traveling southbound on Highway 520 when a Richland Police Officer stopped him.

"I conducted a routine traffic stop, and I could smell marijuana coming from the car" said Chris Smith, Richland Police Officer.

Lumpkin K-9 unit searched and found the marijuana in the trunk area of the vehicle.

Peterson is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and was transferred to the Sumter County Jail.
