Chef on the Lawn promotes healthy diets

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Making a few simple changes to your diet can change your life.

As a part of diabetes awareness month South Georgians came together for the second annual chef on the lawn event at the Government Center in Albany.

Chefs, farmers and vendors offered free healthy food.

Healthy fajitas and low-fat ice cream were a couple of the big hits proof that healthy food can taste good.

"They said the ice cream was low fat bit it tasted like it was regular ice cream with all the sugar and stuff," said Quantashia Hill, Student at Morningside Elementary School

The event was organized by the mayor's office, Phoebe Putney Hospital and the Dougherty County School System

Free diabetes screenings were also offered to anyone at the event.
