TIFTON, GA (WALB) -

The Patticake House is reaching out to South Georgia as it tries to increase its resources for Suitcases for Kids.

The program provides clothing and toys to child abuse victims and foster children in Tift, Turner, Irwin, Worth, and Ben Hill counties.

Since program began in 2005, some members of our community have helped our agency provide over 2000 filled suitcases to children in this area by "adopting" a child or donating clothing and toys.

Each year, this project ensures that approximately 400 children each receive at least:

  • A suitcase personalized with their initial
  • Two changes of clothing
  • A pair of pajamas
  • Undergarments
  • One toy from the child's wish list

Items may be dropped off at local DFCS agencies in Turner, Irwin, Worth, or Ben Hill counties.

Tift county residents may drop off their items at the Georgia State Patrol Post on US Hwy 41 in Tifton, located next to the airport.

Sponsors who may not have the time to shop, but would like to adopt a child can call the Patticake House at 229-382-4141, or may send their donation to:
