Plenty has changed for Westover

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The drive for the Dome begins in the other five classes including an historic first for the Westover Patriots.

The Westover Patriots are at home in the state playoffs in their history.

And with it they face a familiar team.

Westover opens against Jonesboro.

The Cardinals had a big second half and won handily over the Patriots in week two of the regular season.

The Patriots enter the playoffs riding a pretty good winning streak and believe they are a better football team than the one Jonesboro beat earlier this season.

Still, coach Octavia Jones knows his team has to avoid hurting themselves Friday night.

"Not just this game but the entire season. You have got to play four quarters of football. When you get to this point, you can't afford those slipups because these teams that are playing now. All 32 of them can play football. If you make a mistake, they are going to make you pay for it. We have got to try to play as mistake free as possible", said head coach Octavia Jones.

Westover opens the playoffs Friday 7:30 p.m. at Hugh Mills Stadium.
