ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

An Albany Red Cross Volunteer is back home after helping victims of Superstorm Sandy.

Willie Hamilton was station in New Jersey for 14 days.

The Red Cross has provided more than 75,000 overnight stays in shelters, served more than 5.3 million meals and snacks and distributed more than 1.3 million relief items.

Hamilton says the destruction is widespread.

"It was uprooted trees and tree limbs that broke off and fell on people houses. It did a lot of damage to their vehicles, cars and trucks and so forth," said Willie Hamilton, Red Cross Volunteer.

Nearly 6,000 trained American Red Cross disaster workers have been deployed to help Sandy Victims.
