ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Albany receive new energy efficient appliances from a top manufacture.

Samsung donated about $2,500 worth of Energy Star qualified appliances to the Club.

A new washer and dryer was donated to the club for collecting over 700 pledges from parents club members and community people promising to conserve energy.

Club members were also educated on the importance of conserving energy.

"It's important for them to understand if they turn the lights off behind them, turn the faucets off or computers and the Xbox, they can help their parents save money for their homes," Jason Belk, Boys & Girls Club of Albany.

The Energy Star began a partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of America in 2009 to engage kids to become knowledgeable about energy efficiency.
