ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Albany Police Gang Task Force is making more arrests this year, and they expect to see a spike in crime over the holidays.

The Task Force made 412 arrests through October and issued 874 citations for gang activity.

Gang task force officers warn that during the holidays, crimes such as robbery and burglary increase, and you should take precautions.

"Especially leaving these businesses. Call the police to escort you home or escort you to your car or whatever.  Please feel free to do so.  Because like I said the holidays it's going to be pretty busy out here," said Investigator Roosevelt Kearney of the Albany Police Gang Task Force.

Last year the Albany Police Department increased the number of cops on the streets during the holidays by working longer shifts.
