Hungry at Home charity feeds hundreds of kids

LOWNDES CO., GA (WALB) -

A Valdosta business is helping a charity make sure kids don't go hungry on weekends when they don't get meals at school.

The Hungry at Home charity will kick of its food giveaway right before Thanksgiving for 700 children in Lowndes, Echols, and Lanier counties.

There wouldn't be enough food for all those children without the Fresh Beginnings Call Center.

Managers challenged their 600 employees to bring in as much food as possible for the charity.

"It's amazing to see the spirit of giving here especially in the holiday season, were all going through tough times right now with the economy but the people who don't have it seem to give the most, and its truly amazing, it's a blessings," said Damon Sefa, Fresh Beginnings Call Center donation organizer.

Each child in the program will go home with six meals and four snacks each weekend.

The food collected from this drive should last until the spring.
