The family of a Norman Park woman who was kidnapped and brutally murdered over the weekend say they're glad her killer has been caught.

But loved ones of Dominga Trejo have not only been dealt a tragic loss, but unexpected funeral expenses and they're in need of help.

"My mom was a really good person. She was loved by a lot of people," said Isaac Gonzalez who reflected on the life of his 57-year-old mother.

"She was there for anybody who needed her. I am really lucky to have her as my mom," he said.

The last time he talked to his mother was last Friday night when she was babysitting her grandkids

"I went and picked them up from her at the Dollar Tree and 20 minutes later this had happened," he said.

Trejo was in her car waiting for her husband outside the Quik Mart on 133 when she was carjacked, police say, by 20-year old Alfonso "Chucky" Moore.

In what's believed to be a robbery, investigators say he shot her and then dumped her body outside Regency Village Mobile Park. He was arrested Sunday and charged with her murder.

Trejo leaves behind 6 kids, 22 grandchildren, 1 great-grand child and a lot of tears from loved ones who can't believe she met such a senseless and violent end.

"She taught me to be a great mom. I'm just going to miss her so much," said her daughter.

Trejo worked at the KFC in Moultrie but had no insurance.

Her family is trying to figure out how to pay for funeral expenses and have set up a fund in her name at South Georgia Bank.

Despite the anger over her loss, Trejo's son has a message for the man accused of killing her.

"He took something precious to us that can never be replaced. And the best way he can honor what he did to us would be to turn his life around and give his life to the Lord," said Gonzalez.

When asked if that was what his mom would've wanted, Gonzalez said, "That's definitely what she would want. She was a giver not a take. She would want him to turn his life around."

Alphonso Moore was arrested in Coolidge.

He remains in the Colquitt County Jail facing numerous charges.

If you would like to help the family pay for funeral expenses go by any South Georgia Bank a fund has been set up in the Dominga Trejo's name.
