Americus State Court judge is not on the bench

AMERICUS, GA (WALB) -

A State Court judge in Sumter County is still not back on the bench after he disappeared last Wednesday night.

Judge Russ Barnes disappeared last Wednesday night.

When he failed to show up for court the next morning, and all out search was launched for him, including a state helicopter search.

"It's worth it for anybody's well being. I don't think the fact that he was a judge had anything to do with it. He's an individual, no different that anybody else that went missing."

He was found several hours later in his SUV at the Americus WalMart.

Law officers say he left home because of personal problems.

He was taken to a hospital to be checked out then transferred to a crisis center in Albany.
