Thomas Co. gets better cell phone coverage

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

With information from AT&T

Cell phone coverage along well-traveled U. S. Highway 19 between Thomasville and Monticello, FL just got faster and more reliable, with a new cell site.

The new cell site, located on New Hope Road in Thomasville, is part of AT&T's ongoing efforts to drive innovation and extend its mobile Internet network

The carries says it is also part of an ongoing investment to build networks that will fuel economic growth and create jobs and enable AT&T's customers to quickly access the content, applications and services that matter most to them.

"More than ever before, customers look to wireless communications to stay in touch with family, friends and business colleagues," said Sylvia Russell, President of AT&T Georgia.  "We're working to make this possible by investing in enhanced wireless coverage  in Thomasville and across the state."

AT&T's mobile Internet network is based on the Global System for Mobile (GSM) standard, the most open and widely used wireless network platforms in the world.
