TIFT CO., GA (WALB) -

Sycamore Police Chief, Justin Rutherford, is in critical condition Monday morning after he wrecked his police car Sunday night.

Rutherford was traveling northbound on I-75 near mile marker 71 in Tift County when he swerved off the road to avoid hitting the car in front of him.

Georgia State Patrol responded to the wreck and say Rutherford was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from his car.

He was airlifted to Macon Sunday night.

We will have more updates when they become available.
